The November 2008 issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine names the Tour de Tuck as the best road cycling ride in the southeast. Cool! Special thanks to Julie & Mary at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Greg Duff, the course director. I also want to thank all of the volunteers that helped (Moose & friends, Clint, others that I have forgotten their names) and the Sylva Rotary Club for the aid stations and motorcycle SAG. Thanks to Adam Schultz for shooting photos. Thanks to everyone who rode and supported the event. ;D www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/index.php/2008-best-of-the-outdoors-biking/Here is how it looks in the print version:

Awesome! Great picture and write-up. Great quote from Scott. That's some stuff to be proud of... One thing though -- it may not the the best or the second best, and all that's debatable, but how could the AOMM not make it into a a top ten list???!!!

AAAhhhh -- I read the whole article -- the AOMM is listed among the best road RACES. They were always emphatic that it wasn't a race, which of course it was. Glad somebody finally got it right... That is awesome! The work that Julie and Mary have put into this show! I'm glad I was able to be a part of it this year through volunteering and look forward to taking on the century next year.

An interesting side note, the AOMM cannot officially be a race and get a permit to ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The BRP will not issue any permits on events that keep times for the event, regardless of what event it is. It will be interesting to see if the BRP sees this ranking about the AOMM. That is why on the TdT we don't officially keep times, and only post rider # and times, not names. We are not sure how the Bridge-to-Bridge and Blood, Sweat, and Gears get away with it, but we want to follow the rules the BRP puts forth so we continue to get the BRP support.

That is interesting. It just gives the TdT more prestige though, by being the best and one of the few completely legitimate events.
