Okay, here’s the deal: the head tube carbon/alloy bonding cracked on my S-Works Tarmac E5 and Specialized replaced it with a new Tarmac SL Pro. After ~100 miles of trying to bond with the bike (no pun intended) it’s just not going to work out. I hate it.
I’m posting this to offer the frame, the whole bike, everything but the wheels, etc. for sale. I’m also open to partial trades. The problem with selling the bike as a whole is that it’s got about $1 million dollars invested and one can never hope to reclaim the entire investment. So I’m open to innovative suggestions if you are interested.
Here are the details:
Frameset: XL (58.2cm) Tarmac SL Pro
Color: Red/white graphics
Bars: FSA K-Wing carbon
Stem: Deda Newton (135mm)
Seatpost: S-Works carbon w/Zerts
Saddle: BG Toupe Team (black/red)
Shifters: DuraAce 10-speed
Brakes: DuraAce 7800
Front and Rear Derailleurs: DuraAce 10-speed
Crankset/cups: DuraAce 10-speed (53/39t)
Chain: DuraAce
Cables: DuraAce
Cassette: SRAM Rival 28-11t (not a typo – I love this cassette)
Wheels: Mavic R-SYS
Tires: S-Works
The bike weighs 16.75 lbs w/cages, pedals, and computer
Kent @ Motion Makers bent over backwards trying to get a different frame, so I want to acknowledge that here (selling the frame is in NO WAY a reflection on Kent). There is nothing wrong with the SL; it does everything it’s supposed to. Relative to the Tarmac E5 it’s just too tame: sort of like going from bull riding to pushing Cheney around in a wheel chair…
I haven’t a clue what to ask in the way of price, probably somewhere around half of a new frame/bike (which sucks for me). The frameset retails for $1850, the wheel set ~$1300, and the gruppo ~$1000, just for frames of reference. Please call or email and we’ll talk if you are interested.
Thanks for reading a very long for sale/trade ad - Will
