From the UCI races in Hendersonville this past weekend... The Whitmore in the family that wins races is Deb. She raced the cat 3/4 race to earn some valuable upgrade points. She just upgraded last year to cat 3 and most of the races she does are cat 1/2/3. In those races she does well and has even won a couple of them, but hasn't had big enough fields to qualify for upgrade points. Here at the UCI race, she complete against 25 other women, so plenty of field points. Deb won both days easily with over a minute lead by the end. I wish I was that fast! With the upgrade points, Deb can now race as a cat 2 and do the Elite women's races at big events. Way to go Deb! I had decent races, finishing 24th on Saturday and 21st on Sunday against a big host of pros. Congratulations! Strictly only the P,1,2 races are UCI sanctioned though. The other races are USCF. Looking at the fields the NJ race hurt the pro turnout. A UCI C2 race in NJ with all the national powerhouses , and a C2 in NC where UCI points were so much easier to get. (A big gripe of the Euro riders, who compete for the same points). The whole Euro pro field races in C1/C2 races on a weekly base. Can you imagine Sven Nijs in Flat Rock? Very disapointing turnout in womens P,1,2 it seems with 8 riders. Still wished I would have been able to spectate the races, like last two years.

That is pretty funny. I tend to have the opposite problem, I always race at least one category higher than I should race. That ensures that I don't have the pressure of actually winning.
