So yeah, im off to my first USCF race Cat4 lookin really forward to it. I get their and I feel more ready than ever. About 10 min. before the race I start seeing alot of bikers, alot more than I expected. So they say Cat 4's to the line and OMG (106 Cat 4's) pull up to the line, I am am nervous wreck now. So we take off and in the first curve their is a wreck, then another wreck, then another wreck. So its about 15 min. into it and prolly about 90 riders in it still and I am thinkin man this pace is SLOW, honestly it didn't even compare to a collegiate crit. So I probably running about 40th at the time when 4 guys go down in front of me on the downhill part of the course, and oh my. My wheel hits his and I begin to fly through the air at prolly around 35mph. My helmet hits first then my whole left side takes a big shabang. I am laying in the road wondering if I can move, so I start to get up and I do, then I look over and some other guy is laying their and he can't get up or even move. I get my bike, and kinda think on what I should do at the time and I decide to look at my bike. I begin to look at it and notice the saddle was HAHA at a 90 degree angle to my frame, and my wrap on my bars got puntured but their wasn't a single scratch on my bike. My brakes were a little off, but thats all. I take a look at me and all I see is blood pretty much everywhere on my left side. Then I feel something funny, my left arm wont go back strait, something is wrong with it. So I say to hell with it and go back to the pitts and decide to keep on racing. So about 8 minutes to go and my goodness another wreck right in front of me but luckily I missed it, then another guy comes up and runs into me, and lucily I manage to not wreck. My hip, knee, shoulder, and arm is in tremendous pain but somehow I manage to keep going. So its the last two laps and I manage to get up front and position myself, then the last lap comes and im in good position for the sprint. The sprint goes to early I set in on their wheel knowing they made a mistake, then I go, im about 5th and I am like I could sprint harder but im about 70% right now because my left arm can barely move, I hear another crash on my left behind me so I go way right in the clear and finish a 6th outta 106. I am pretty impressed with myself for what I did considering I am not through with the story yet.
Amateur Athens Twilight Race - Oh man I qualified to race in it so I gotta give it a shot even though I am in even worse pain than earlier. So I give it a go and about the 5th lap I see a wreck and about the 10th lap I just said screw it because my arm was in to much pain. The pace was crzy fast but I know I coulda prolly pulled a top 40 had I not wrecked but shizzy happens, and I had no strength on my left side so it all added up.
Athens Twilight - Man this event was awesome. This is like my future goal is to get to just race in it. I dont care if I placed LAST, I want to race in this someday. It was lightning fast, and lightining awesome. I think their were like 30,000 people out their, the whole placed was jammed packed and it was awesome to watch. Will not miss this event
Hospital - So I get in late and I know my arm isn't right. I go to bed and wake up in the AM, and im just like I might as well go. I get X-rays on my elbow and it shows that I had a fracture - cracked bone, which really sucks so yeah I am wearing a stint to hold it in place which has to be on for the next 3 weeks, but I can still cycle which is great, just no racing for the next 3 weeks which is fine because my next race is in 4 weeks so I get to do alot of training WE HEW!
