Hey all, I wanted to get the word out that summer maintenance to the Rough Creek Trails on the old Canton Watershed is in the progress of being done. As of today, 6-30-11, we have weedeated and cleared of deadfalls all of the upper section (the section that runs from the west boundary road to the top of the watershed) of Cherry Cove Trail and will hopefully get the lower section ( the singletrack that climbs out to the west boundary road) completed sometime next week. If you are interested in riding through some of the most diverse forest in western NC and enjoy the acres of blooming Turk's Cap Lilies, now is the time to go. If you ride before we complete the weedeating of the lower section, just keep in mind that the upper section is wide open and in good shape.

Late spring, eary summer update: Today, June 2nd, members of the Friends of Rough Creek Watershed spent National Trails Day trimming out the undergrowth along Cherry Cove Trail. The trail is now,(for the first time ever!) free of undergrowth for its entire 2.5 miles lenght. The old road beds need to be mowed, hopefully the town of Canton will complete the mowing of the road beds in the next week or so.
