I am fairly new to mountain biking and I have a few questions. I just bought a used bike and I am having some issues. It's a little small and the seat post is very short. Is it possible to buy a longer seat post for an inexpensive price? Also, the extensions on the handle bars have been cut off. Can I replace those? How much could I expect for a small tune up? Sorry for the very amateur questions, but I am a college student who is very hard pressed for money, and thus the reason for the used bike over a new one. Thank you for any comments and information. Happy Riding!!! Attachments:

You can buy a new seat post, and I'd imagine it would only be about $15-20. If the seat post needs to be raised close to the maximum, you may want to consider getting a larger sized bike in the future.
You can also replace the extensions on the end of the handlebars. Motion Makers should have a good variety of the bar ends/extensions.
I'm not sure what Motion Makers charges for a tune-up, but I would think the basic tune-up would be around $30. You could stop by the store (which I highly recommend doing, they're all great!) to ask, it's beside Ironstone downtown or call them at 828.586.6925.
Glad to see a new rider! You're in a great area! There's a lot of good riding, both MTB and road. Don't worry about asking amateur questions, we were all there once,it helps you to learn, and having questions just means you are passionate about the sport.
