Scott, I have all my GPS data & map my ride data from the ride to "the road to no-where." I think after living here 5yrs I can officially say after riding it "I can't believe it was never on the listed rides." Its ~ a 4hr ride and it has something that most rides don't around here that consist or 70 miles; It doesn't have a big climb & it has a good bit of history behind it FANTASTIC!!! Let me know if your interested in me giving you the data to put up on the ride sections of motion makers. I think it would be a great bonus to the site. Data: [Garmin Edge 705, Mapmyride.com] Take Care, Clint

I just saw your thread Clint. I do not look at it every 10 minutes, so I did not see your post until right now. If you want to map the ride on mapmyride.com manually or upload your Garmin data to mapmyride.com, then simply send me the public link to the route. How is that for easy?

MayMyRide.com Data: www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/nc/cullowhee/1076172696My Edge 705 Data: connect.garmin.com/activity/4126231We left from my place vs. the map my ride data shows it leaving from campus. We also took a very minor loop that didn't really add much time to the ride but varied the route a little. On the Edge 705 Data I have some way points marked that are labeled overlook (which over-looks Fontana, trail head (an entrance to some hiking trails), and I think one more but unsure what it was. Also, the tunnel is safe to ride through. Once you get to the end of the tunnel you will run into a trail. I did stop my garmin here but did manage to ride probably a solid 1/4 mile on the trail with it being very smooth. Eventually we made it to a little down-hill and decided to turn back but a great place to bring a cross bike to from the looks of it to add more mileage. If needed, you can grab a bit to eat in Bryson city. I stopped my edge 705 but we also went and eat at the Subway which has a TCBY yogurt at it ;D I probably shouldn't tell you that I scarfed down a 12 inch sub then went and rode at 184HR should I....

That's a nice trail, and it's all in the GSMNP -- you can loop around counter-clockwise and emerge on the road before the tunnel, also. I walked this with my 3-year-old. It goes all the way down to Hazel Creek on Lake Fontana. Be aware riding mountain bikes isn't allowed in the park -- they're considered "mechanized vehicles" by the NPS and are against the law except for on a few designated gravel roads in Deep Creek, Cades Cove, and the like. Not that I agree with this law, or that it isn't blatant hypocrisy to allow horses and not bikes. But the horse lobby is much stronger. If you're going to poach a trail in the park, (1) don't get caught, (2) if you do get caught, don't try to run -- apologize and be courteous while you accept the consequences, and (3) don't get caught. There are some frail efforts to legitimize MTB use, and incidents could jeopardize these. Interestingly, the Obama administration may not be as supportive -- Bush rode mountain bikes... did manage to ride probably a solid 1/4 mile on the trail with it being very smooth. Eventually we made it to a little down-hill and decided to turn back but a great place to bring a cross bike to from the looks of it to add more mileage.

-There is glass in the tunnel (no fun anyway). -About the worse place to ride in the park when it gets to getting caught. (Believe me). - If you don't mind riding some gravel you can cut out Bryson city (traffic) and big part of Hw19 by going to East elementary, then L on 19, then R on Galbraiths creek into the Park, L on Deep creek and then cut through to Fontana road.
