You can ride my new wireless PowerTap system. Available on the Tuesday night rides, you can swap my PowerTap wheel onto your bike and put the computer on your handlebar for the ride. At the end, we'll upload the data into the computer and then LET THE LEARNING BEGIN!
If you are interested, contact me before the Tuesday night ride, and we'll set it up.
Power is a superior training tool to Heart Rate. Power is an accurate measure of how hard you are going. Heart Rate is the body's response to how hard you are going. HR has a lag time and is also affected by hydration, heat, etc. With power, we can look at your ride and see where you "burned your matches" and how you can be more efficient.
I can also do a sub-maximal ramp test for you on the trainer. Basically, we get you pedaling then increase the load every couple minutes or so. From the power data we can determine what your threshold power and heart rate are. Useful information for anyone setting up a training program. We can do this any time by appointment.
