I shaved almost 30 seconds off of my time from earlier this year. I clocked a 9:03 today. I should've pushed just a bit harder coming up to the gate to sneak in under 9. Oh well, I guess I'll have to set that as the new goal.

I guess since I am officially or at least a part time resident of Sylva, I should add my name to the hit list with a ripe old time of 6.57 . Wish I could say that was on the MTB while pulling a trailer but that would be a big neg.

Great -- you'll have to post or e-mail me your name in order for me to post your time. The results listing isn't anonymous. Thanks! I guess since I am officially or at least a part time resident of Sylva, I should add my name to the hit list with a ripe old time of 6.57 . Hi all, We'd love to see some 2010 times! Give it a go and post it now, and you'll have a beginning-of-the-season benchmark against which you can compare, later on! For those new to the board, click on this thread and read the first 5 or posts back in 2008 to see the history and criteria. There will be a new, exciting font color for the 2010 times, for those of you who like to see your name in lights...Let the suffering begin! ps -- please post your real first and last name with any time; no anonymous times, please.

OK.. I have a dumb question. Which gate/fence do we go to? I did this damned climb for real this time and like an idiot, it was after 40 miles and climbing both Cowee (not Cullowhee) and Ellijay. The distance I got to the actual parking lot was 1.18 miles at 8:35. The time to the first gate, which I think is the actual challenge, was roughly 7:47. I had to eyeball it because I kept going all the way up and I was going crosseyed.

It is the gate right past where the animal shelter road is (on left). It is a few 100 meters from the parking lot. I think the distance is right at 1 mile. I am too lazy to dig through the early threads on post to see the "official" specs, but you can browse through them.
