Now that we have lost daylight savings, its time to start up again on our winter tradition, THE FRIDAY CANEY FORK RIDE. This was a regular thing last winter, we regularly had 5-14 people on the ride.
When: leaving at 1pm.
Where to meet: In the parking lot between Reid Gym and the UC, or at the clock tower once the parking lot is closed.
The route: Out to the end of Caney Fork and back, about a 2 hour ride.
The ride: this is a steady low intensity winter training ride. We all stay together, no one gets dropped. There is no attacking or sprinting. This is a great way to get in miles in the winter, socialize, get caught up on the gossip. This is a good opportunity for newer riders to ride with a group and get some tips from experienced riders.
This ride will happen every friday throughout the winter. I'll post each week to remind folks and to let you know if I'll be there or not (I'll be at most of them).
Weather: I ride outside in most conditions all winter. Ice and snow is the only thing that keeps me in. I don't mind wet and cold. So, chances are that I'll be doing the ride even if you don't think anyone will show up. I especially enjoy company on those 33 degrees and raining days.

The Friday Ride is back! I don't know what turnout will be like for the first week of school, but I will be out there for sure, so come on out if you have the time!
When: leaving at 1pm
Where to meet: On the UC lawn, by the clocktower
The route: Caney Fork out-and-back. Normally about 1:45.
The ride: We leave from campus as a group and ride at the pace of the slowest rider until the turn-around. After we turn around, it's full pace, gearing up for the sprint zone which ends at Moses Creek road. Attacks normally start somewhere around Judaculla Rock. We regroup before riding through the Gauntlet on 107 and return to campus as a group.
Hope to see you out there!
Please note: This ride is not affiliated with WCU in any way, shape or form.
