connect.garmin.com/activity/64965196Not the full loop. I had to bail down Conley Creek and call for a ride. Cleats were frozen and rims had ice on them. A nice elderly couple picked me up off the side off the road and let me warm up in their car while waiting. On a day with no snow I will try again. I went counter-clockwise to learn what the Alarka side looks like. Rough pavement most of the way. Turns gravel and then dead ends quickly with a single track trail off to the right. Straight up hill for 1000ft until dirt road again. Greens Creek side is steep gravel/dirt road. I also have no proof that any of these roads connect at the top. Will post full loop when roads become ridable.

I have yet to build a cross bike so it would have to be my 29er which seemed too cumbersome for the paved parts. Just out of curiousity.. was your top speed really 66.5 mph?

Looks good. Mean climb, although I would have really though it was a little bit meaner, Although I bet It felt plenty mean. The greens creek connection will be the trickiest part. Ill bring a few maps by the shop next time. I would love to make the next trip. Mondays work the best. Let me know.

66.5 mph was when Josh and Deb picked me up towards the bottom of Conley Creek Rd. Which isn't the speed on 74 55mph??
Joe, I have a cx crank 46/38 on the Crux; no easy climbing gear and no downhill gear. Not the best choice for this area, but it works.

Kevin, you should take the 29er up there to ride. Just park where the pavement ends on any of the roads heading up hill (Greens Ck, Barkers Ck, Alarka Rd, Conleys Ck, plus some more on the Franklin side). There are a lot of trails and forest service roads in the area. They might all be out and backs though.

Looking at your map you are mainly doing a road ride. There are options to dirt /road ride loops in this area, but they are very challenging on a cross bike. You can get to the big Laurel on logging road from Nations or Barkers creek and I think from Greens creek too. From the Laurel you can drop on double track into Alarka. From some of the closed developements you can go back to the Laurel pr over to Hw 28 south which can get you to Leatherman Gap or back to Greens Creek (I think). Let me know if you want to join us when we have another mini epic scheduled.
