I'm thinking of heading to Greenville on Sunday for the US Pro Road Race Championships. Got plans on Saturday or I'd make it a weekend.
I'm assuming I can ride up Paris Mountain ahead of the race and be on the course when they come through? Anybody ever done this? I've never been up the climb - only heard of it.
Anybody else heading that way?

Paris mtn is a great place to go watch the race. You can ride up there ahead of the race or even ride up or back between the times they are actually on Paris. You could catch them at different places on different laps. The very top is the steepest and where the biggest crowds are located, although there are lots of parties at people's houses that line the course. After they climb Paris mtn the last time, you still have time to make it downtown to see the finish. It is worth checking out the expo area down there anyway. I won a bissell vacuum there last year. If you go to the expo, say hello at the Globalbike booth! If anyone will be around Greenville Sat night, there is a really cool bicycle related art showing called pedal pop. Check it out at www.pedalpop.com Basically 10 artists were commissioned to make 20 prints each of some bicycle theme art. The event will be a fancy dinner and viewing of the artwork. They will also host an auction of 2 Trek Madone frames that were custom painted by artists. Artwork is also available for purchase. It is all a fundraiser for the globalbike organization and Team Type 1. I've committed to going to some CX races in TN, but I'm bummed I'll miss everything in Gville.

I've got my route(s) all mapped out and the GPS loaded. I've never been to Greenville so it'll be a fun exploration. I figure I'll go up Paris for a couple of the laps and then ride around a bit up there before heading back into town for the finishing laps and expo. Good luck at your CX races!
