You are mostly correct. Most riders don't really know how to ride as a team (which involves sacrificing individual results for the team). First of all, any good team would not allow a break of that size to go up the road without someone from their team in the break and if it did occur they would work together to chase it down before it got 2 minutes up the road setting a pace that no one would attack. This assumes your team is strong enough to do this. If not, you're srewed anyway!

You can probably take advantage of it though. If you know that some bigger teams have poor tactics , use it against them. For instance by organizing early -well cooperating-breaks where those teams are not present in. How was it:" We only learn through pain and money"?
