Greetings fellow Sadomachiscist. I double dog dare anyone to test this ride out. www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/nc/cullowhee/576126101382296276I've done 98% of it but, I really need someone to tell me how oak ridge to 281 is ?? We are going to do this in spring on cross bikes from sundog (hopefully). Just a note in case someone takes me up on this. The Toxiway Climb is 20-30% for about 35 min. I've done it 8 yrs in a row and it seems like every year or two I add a tooth on the rear. Good luck and report back...

Hmm, interesting. I never knew the maps said it went through, so never investigated. I'll go check it out in the next couple weeks and let you know how it goes. I'll also check out Woodring cemetary road. Maybe out one and back on the other. I usually ride my cross bike with 25 or 27cc beefy road tires and have a 34x28 gear configuration. This set up works for about 95% of the dirt roads around here.

finally went to investigate those connections from John's creek to 281. Negative on both of them. Oak Ridge does not exist on the John's creek side. I confirmed that what appears to be a road on google maps is actually a power line cut. Notice how straight it is going up and over the mountain.
Woodring cemetary rd also does not connect. You can get pretty close to the gap from either side, but nothing connects through. Not even any logging roads that I could find.
Looks like you'll have to ride on 107 to 281.
