So, what time is the ride right now? The Tuesday night ride that is.

It is still at 6PM. We usually start making it earlier beginning in October to accommodate the earlier sunset. There will be a post once it gets closer.

I hate that my shameful riding has made such an impact on a simple group ride, yes, there are tactics to stick with the fastest that I had ridden by, but until my mistake, I didn't feel I was over pushing myself in any way. I think the regroupings at the hub would be a good process for the "risk takers" to weigh into the calculation their tactics. I don't know how my mistake was made, but it was probably just trying to catch up with the next rider in front. Anyway, I would suggest keeping the simple reminder to ride within your skill level, not push yourself over the top, and try out the neutral topics that have already been discussed. I could be completely off base, but we all passed the preschool courses and were led enough then, why jump back to that form of directory?

So in re-reading this thread, I have decided that my suggestions need to be changed.
The ride should certainly have some set control limits like the hub and neutral decent. At the same time, new riders should have an experienced riding coach/mentor to help guide their effort to keep the ride safe for them.
If at any point during the ride, you feel on edge about if you're going too quickly, certainly let yourself slow down to a comfortable, safe speed.
This advice should be voiced coming from someone who over rode his own skill level and had to miss 7 months of riding because of it.
I should be riding my new bike for the first time this weekend. I will certainly be up there to confirm the Tuesday ride cannot beat me.
